Hello folks, it’s my turn to talk. First off, the magnanimous Archknight has changed his mind and decided to release a v2 of chapter 18 of Superior Cross that doesn’t have watermarks. Hurra! On to other news… Chapter 19 is also ready for release; you can find links down below. Hope you will enjoy reading! Those of you, who want to listen to me rant for a second or two, keep reading this post. Those of you who want the chapters, go grab them and have a blast.
Alright, this is going to be my recruitment spiel. Honestly, just sign up to a group. It won’t kill you, most of them don’t bite and they’d be happy to lend a hand teaching you how to do things if you don’t know how. Now, some groups do require you to have previous experience… And it might be that you want to join one of those groups to work on a project you love, but can’t because you don’t have that experience. While this is a noble cause, I actually recommend against it. I haven’t been doing this for long, but I’ve found that once I start working on a series… I don’t read it for fun anymore. I read it, and I look for errors. It isn’t relaxing, or enjoyable. Again, from personal experience, I’ve found it’s better to work on projects that seem decent, but you aren’t craving the next chapter. Point is, you don’t have to aim for the large groups. Aim for some of the smaller ones, who are just happy to have more people to work with them. Help everyone grow, and as your experience in scanlation increases… You will find yourself working on projects with larger and larger fanbases.
Another common argument people have against joining scanlation… I don’t have the time! Hahaha, you do have the time… You just don’t know it yet. I’m working through my fourth year of my BoSc degree. I spent 10 hours in lecture, and 10 hours in the lab this week. (next week add at least another 6 hours of lab time to that). Nevermind readings, writeups, revisions, tutoring, and a host of other school related things that I need to do every day… Yet, I still have time to work on manga here and there. Do a first draft of a proof while eating breakfast, clean a page of manga during that break between classes, typeset a page during the bus ride home… You don’t have to do a ton at once, it’s possible to spare 5 minutes here and there, yet still get an entire chapter done during a single week.
In short, try it out! Go download a test from someone, and give it a shot. Who knows, maybe you will like doing it, and enter scanlation? Worst case, it gives you a peek inside what it means to be a scanlator, and that never hurts. That’s about all I have to say… If you stuck with me this long, congrats! Give yourself a pat on the back, and go read some manga. Have a good one folks.

You rant about joining small groups with unknown titles but at the same time you steal titles from ENXAME for your own popularity?
1. He didn’t rant about joining small groups with unknown title. He ranted about people NOT joining scanlation at all.
2. We stole titles from ENXAME? lolololololol.
Statute of limitations had passed…(1) By a long margin, so it was not stealing. People wanted to work on this series, raws were (I believe, could be wrong here) purchased, and the series was worked on and released. Then ENXAME started releasing again (like magic!). There might have been some communication between the people working on this, and ENXAME, but that’s a detail I’m grey on, and frankly don’t really care about. Mainly because it gets me reading more Superior Cross.
