Arachnid Chapter 22 & Revived Web IRC Client

Hiya guys, welcome back to another episode of Kirei Cake’s Grand Adventure of Loli Kingdom.

This time, we bring you to Alice’s Adventures in Assassin Land Chapter 22, alongside some news.

After some discussion with my group, I am making some huge changes effective immediately.

From now on, our primary two forms of release will be IRC XDCC and our online reader.

MediaFire DDLs will come 8 hours after it is posted as released on our website.

However, if you visit our IRC channel, our topic will have the MF DDL link immediately for you to use.

Batoto releases will come at noon the next day, or at 10 PM the same day, EST.

This is being done in an effort to convince more people to drop by our channel, say thanks, and chat.

However, I’m sure many of you are unfamiliar with IRC and probably think it’s a pain to use.

That is why I have decided to revive my pre-configured, very-easy-to-use web-based IRC client.

All you need to do is go to our IRC page, read the instructions carefully, and then click Connect.

And within seconds, you’ll be connected straight to our IRC channel, no strings attached.

You can then chat, give your thanks, and download this release by just typing in !arach22.

Or if that doesn’t work for whatever reason, the MF DDL link is available in the topic, as I mentioned.

Our online reader releases will be available immediately for viewing, so you don’t have to wait for them.

(Decided it’d be kinda silly to continue posting here as just “Anonymous”, so, chose a new name, kinda swiped from Joker JUN.)

    Release thanks #2!

    page 31:
    “She couldn’t be drowning, right…”
ought to have a question mark, right?

    page 32:
“At first, they were unusually cute, huh.”
Huh? I don’t understand this line.

    page 63:
Would be good to transliterate the panting.

Are you somewhat familiar with the original Kamen Rider franchise?
If so, is its action as over-the-top as Hibiki’s current wall-perforating battle? Is Arachnid’s orthopteran action largely just paying stylistic tribute?

    > an overhaul of v2′s sometime

Yay! (But no pressure.) In that case, guess I’ll wait until then before doing any more QC on those chapters.

    > Well, ultimately, since the manga IS called Arachnid, I want to try my best to avoid the use of “spider” altogether.

    Aw. :(
I’d use “Arachnid” whenever it’s used as a character’s codename or nickname, and wherever the text would be at least equally as true with “arachnid” as with “spider”.
But personally, I’d switch the other instances to “spider” (or perhaps to “araneid”, if you’d like to at least keep it sounding a bit similar to “arachnid”).
But, it’s your decision, of course. (Definitely worthy of a prominent translation note somewhere, though, isn’t it?)

    > it should be obvious enough that the students were saying bad stuff.

Yeah, but without translation, the reader doesn’t get a sense of precisely how bad.

    > I assume the reader has a basic understanding of Japanese and/or how it works,

Well, that’s basically true in my case. But I’d be a little surprised if a majority of your readers are familiar with much more than just honorifics, a few nouns & pronouns, please/thank you/you’re welcome, and the words that tend to get used in parodies of overenthusiastic anime fans (“baka”, “kawaii”, “desu”, and such).
Suppose I could be wrong, though. Do most of your readers start out overdosing on the ultra-popular stuff before turning to Arachnid, by which time they have picked up a bit more Nihongo knowledge along the way?

    > However, I still think that if you could just join our ranks on IRC, we would be very, very happy :). Just do it for us ;o!

Hmm, well, if you insis—OH NO, BEHIND YOU! A HORDE OF PYROGLYPHIDAE!

    *runs*
